HMD Global recently launched a series of smartphone that will get the latest Android P update. Amongst these smartphones is the Nokia 2.1 along with its counterparts, Nokia 3.1 and the Nokia 5.1. The Nokia 5.1 is the better phone between the two and it runs on Android 8.0 Oreo as HMD Global promises to roll out the Android P later on.

Nokia 2.1 specifications

Design and Display

The Nokia 2.1 Aluminium body frame and plastic back measures 153.6 x 77.6 x 9.7 mm. It weighs 174 g and it also has a Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by). Nokia 2.1 has a 5.5-inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. This screen has Multitouch and it is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. Hardware and Software

The device is powered by Qualcomm MSM8917 Snapdragon 425 and it has Quad-core 1.4GHz Cortex-A53 with Adreno 308 GPU for graphics. This device has a 2GB RAM and 8GB ROM which is expandable up to 128GB using the MicroSD slot. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.

Camera and Battery

Coming to the camera, it sports an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 5MP front camera. This rear camera also has Geo-tagging, touch focus features. The Nokia 2.1 is powered by a non-removable Li-Ion 4000mAH battery which can last up to 19 hours on 3G mode.

Connectivity and Price

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS and MicroUSB 2.0. The price of Nokia 2.1 will be about N40,000 in Nigeria.

Design and Display

Unlike the Nokia 2.1, the Nokia 3.1 measures 146.3 x 68.7 x 8.7 mm which makes it smaller than it’s predecessor, Nokia 2.1. It weighs 138.3 g which is also lesser than Nokia 2.1’s weight of 174 g. It has a front glass, plastic back and an aluminium frame and a Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by). Nokia 3.1 sports a 5.2-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio(310 ppi). Hardware and Software

It is powered by MediaTek MT6750 chipset. It’s Octa-core CPU Cortex-A53 GHz and Mali-T860MP2 GPU makes it’s graphics smooth. It has a 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage or 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB using MicroSD card. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.

Camera and Battery

Nokia 3.1 sports a 13MP rear camera and 8MP with f/2.0 autofocus and LED flash. It is powered by a 2900mAH non-removable Li-Ion battery which is quite a disappointment for the fact that the Nokia 2.1 has a better battery.

Connectivity and Price

Conectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, A2DP, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, and MicroUSB 2.0. The price of Nokia 3.1 will be around N60,000 in Nigeria.

Design and Display

Nokia 5.1 has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels and a 18:9 aspect ratio. It measures 151.1 x 70.7 x 8.2 mm and features a front glass, aluminium body with Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by). It also has a well mounted fingerprint sensor at the front, a Multitouch feature and it is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass. Nokia 5.1 has a 16MP rear camera with dual-LED and tone flash and an 8MP front camera. The rear camera has Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and phase detection autofous feature. The 5.1 has an improved 2970mAH non-removable Li-Ion battery which can last up to 19 h using 3G.

Connectivity and price

Connectivity options includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, A2DP, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS and MicroUSB 2.0. It costs about N84,000 in Nigeria.

The Nokia 2.1, 3.1 and 5.1 is expected to be released in July 2018 with HMD Global now in charge of Nokia phones.
