Multichoice to increase DStv and reduce GOtv subscription prices

written by Johnson Daniel July 11, 2018

The South African owned TV service, Multichoice, has announced that as from the 1st of August 2018, all DStv subscription prices will go up. This also comes as a surprise to DStv users, as Multichoice is also set to reduce the subscription price of GOtv instead of increasing it.

Multichoice has already started sending out push notifications to all DStv users through text or decoder in regards to the increment of subscription rates. By now, you must have seen a message on your DStv decoder, or you’ve received a text from Multichoice.DStv and GOtv

Furthermore, subscribers of the DStv Access package will now pay N2,000 instead of N1,900; DStv Family package will cost N4,000 instead of N3,800; DStv Compact package will cost N6,800 instead of N6,300; Compact Plus package will cost N10,650 instead of the normal N9,900 and DStv Premium package will cost N15,800 instead of N14,700.

If you notice, the difference in prices is the biggest for the Premium package. Although, the change in price will take effect on the 1st of August, 2018. So, you can still subscribe for any DStv package at the normal price until the 1st of August.

For those, of you who will now want to look for an alternative, there is the GOtv platform. The new price of the GOtv Max packages have been cut-down. GOtv Max package is now N3,200, GOtv Plus is N1,900, GOtv Value is N1,250 and GOtv Lite is N400. For as low as, N400, you can watch a whole load of tv shows at the comfort of your home.

Will the increment affect the mindset of all DStv and GOtv customers? Will there be an increase or decrease in the usage of these terrestrial platforms? Is there any other alternative to these platforms? So much to ponder about. Let us hear what you have to say in this adjustment of the DStv and GOtv subscription prices.
