Images play a very vital role in determining how well our site rank in Google’s SERP. Why most people score low in Google’s SEO, might simply be because of how long it takes for their site to load. This can be due to many reasons, but large image files is one of them. When writing a post, we always try to add pictures to give the post a nice look, but some of this images can increase the load time of your site.

So, you might ask, how can I compress my photos? With Smush Image Compression and Optimization plugin, you can. This is a plugin that resizes, compresses and optimizes images without losing any quality for free on WordPress. It is very easy to use and efficient.

How to compress images on WordPress

After installing and activating this plugin, you will see a settings menu. Read the options carefully and toggle on or off the option you like and save. I advise you to only toggle on Automatic Smush. If you want to access Smush Image Compression and Optimization plugin, go to your Dashboard>>Smush.

This is where you can change any settings whatsoever. If you already have images that needs to be compressed, you can smush them all. The smushing feature is available for both users that use free and pro version of the plugin. The only difference is, free users can only smush 50 images with each click, while pro users can smush all images with one click.
