Android P: Google’s Most Ambitious Update

Android P is the upcoming ninth version of the Google’s Operating System. The Android P which seems like Google’s most ambitious in years is set to be unveiled next week by Google, it was first announced by Google on the 7th of March 2018 with the developer review released the same day.

With the Android P developer review now available and the consumer beta coming at Google I/O today, we have a better insight of what we can expect.

What Will Be The Name Of Android P(9.0)

Over the years we have seen Android versions that have been named after sweet treats and in alphabetical order. We all know of:

We expect Android P to launch as Android 9.0 in 2018, but the name won’t be announced until this summer. Though there are rumours that the name could be Android Pumpkin Pie, Android Pie or Android Pecan Pie all thanks to a reference to Android Pi within the Android Open Source Project, but it doesn’t sound Google-like.

The Google company has been sharing some images of Popsicles on Instagram, popsicle is a trademarked name, but it does not dispute the fact that Google will go to that area. Reports points to Android Pistachio Ice Cream, which is what Google is calling the upcoming Android OS internally.

What are the expected features of the Android P OS?

  • Adaptive battery, brightness and App actions intelligence system. The Android P9 builds on the App predictions feature by recommending the actions you are likely to take next.
